A beautiful ancient presbytery dating back to the 11th Century, with its own private chapel attached to the property. Situated at the end of an ancient causeway raised above the listed village of Les Taillades, every window boasts panoramic views over the natural beauty of the Luberon National Park.

Inside

  • Style: A mix of antiques and ethnic details blend with the beamed ceilings, stunning church-like architecture and handmade tiled floors.
  • Bedrooms: Master double (with views over the mountains and woodland) and single (overlooking the chateau) on the first floor; double bedroom off the half landing; single bedroom on the top floor (with beautiful views and door to the roof terrace).
  • Bathrooms: One marble shower room on the first floor, plus a downstairs toilet with hand basin.
  • For relaxation: Sink into the L-shaped sofas and enjoy beautiful views from beside the open fireplace.
  • For recreation: Explore the historical chapel attached to the house; enjoy table tennis and volleyball on the village green.
  • Practicalities: Dishwasher; utility room with washing machine and dryer; heating system.

Outside

The 25ft sq courtyard garden – perfect for alfresco dining – is surrounded by an ancient wall. For more private outdoor space, take in the stunning views from the roof terrace off the top floor bedroom.

Safety Notice Please note that Villa Luberon  is located in an elevated position situated at the end of an ancient causeway where there is no fencing enclosing the boundaries and the sheer decline of the rock edge, a signed safety disclaimer is required and the supervision of children of all ages is advised.

Food and wine

  • DIY: Available on a self-catering basis (cooking and shopping can be organised by prior arrangement) A well equipped kitchen with a double stainless steel oven and large Belfast-style sink, boasts fantastic views to be enjoyed whilst you are whipping up a culinary extravaganza a la Français.
  • In-house cuisine: The housekeeper is happy to organise your cooking and shopping if you prefer to sit back and relax (by prior arrangement only).
  • Eating out: The nearest restaurant is within 5 minutes walk – a list of restaurants in the local area is provided in the property.

Getting there

  • On the map: Situated in the village of Taillades in Provence.
  • By car: About ½ hour from Avignon, 40 minutes from Marseille and 1 hour from Nimes.
  • By train: The nearest train station is Avignon. There is a direct route from St Pancreas to Avignon in the summer and at other times of year you have to change at Lille (average journey time 6 hours).

  • Visit the local food market in the town of Cavaillon, a 5-minute drive away or enjoy wine tasting at an abundance of local vineyards
  • Head to the hilltop villages of Bonnieux, Godes, Lacoste and Roussillon – all a short drive away.
  • Explore hundreds of walking and cycling trails in the Luberon National Park
  • Other activities include swimming (the river is 10 mins away and the beach is 1 hour away), canoeing, golf and horse riding.
  • The famous antiques centre at Isle sur la Sorgue is only 15 minutes away
