Squirreled away down a country lane in North Devon, this beautiful woodland cottage combines character and charm with a peaceful rural setting. Spacious and comfortable, whether you’re a couple looking for the perfect honeymoon destination, or a small family group who are looking to ensconce yourself in nature, this is an idyllic hideaway cottage.

• Style: English country cottage charm
• Bedrooms: There is a double and a single bedroom at the property that share a family bathroom complete with a rolltop clawfoot bath. Beautiful White Company linen adorns comfortable mattresses, perfect to sink into after a day on foot exploring the local area.
• For relaxation: Underfloor heating means that you can kick of your wellies and pad in comfort from the kitchen to the spacious sitting room which is the perfect relaxation area, complete with wood burner effect fire and sumptuous sofas. Whether you want to get stuck into the plethora of books on the local area, or just want to relax in front of a film with a glass of wine, then there’s plenty of space for you to recline. For summer stays, pull up a traditional steamer chair and relax in the tranquil white flower garden.
• For recreation: From Yahtzee to Scrabble, enjoy your very own gameathon if the weather is a little dubious. Enjoy the original art work scattered throughout the home. Two bicycles are provided with the rental, follow the country lanes and hedgerows to the local country pub.
• Practicalities: There is a combined washer/dryer at the property also a dishwasher. Parking available for one car.

Outside

Past the owner’s house, adjoining a gardening barn, the cottage has private use of the ‘white garden’ which, come springtime is overflowing with flowers and provides the perfect sunbathing spot. Then there’s a peaceful pond area - complete with friendly ducks - that’s perfect for reading a book next to. Alternatively, don your walking boots and explore the surrounding 75 acres. A thoughtfully placed sun trap bench welcomes you amidst brimming pots of ferns. During the summer months, enjoy picking seasonal vegetables from the owners veg garden.

Food and Wine

• DIY: Let loose your inner chef in the spacious well equipped kitchen/diner which lends itself perfectly to a Sunday morning croissant and newspaper lazy start to the day. (please note, the nearest newsagent is around five miles from the property)There's an electric cooker with 5 hob burner, fridge/ freezer. Dine al fresco with a summers BBQ.
• In-house cuisine: If you would like a home cooked meal on arrival, then from tempting 'Lazy Lunches' to 'Dishy Dinners' the owner has a local caterer who can whip you up a storm! A lovely welcome hamper of local fare is placed for your enjoyment. Freezer meals available from the end of April 2010.
• Eating out: From light lunches to Devonshire cream teas; pub grub to fine dining, there's plenty to choose from just a short drive away.The Michelin Star awarded The Masons Arms is only a brief drive from the cottage.

• On the map: Located in Romansleigh, the property is ensconced in nature, yet around half an hour from both Barnstaple and Tiverton.
• To the coast: Braunton is approx 35 minutes away
• By Car: The property is around 3 1/2 hrs from London
• By Train: The nearest train station is at Tiverton Parkway which is around 35 minutes from the property. Travel time of around 2 - 2 1/2 hrs to London.
• By Air: The nearest airport is Exeter, which is around an hour from the property; Bristol Airport is around 1 3/4 hr from the property.

Out and About

• Go antique hunting with the owner, an interiors expert with an eye for a find (available by prior arrangement only, at an additional cost)
• Go riding on Exmoor; West Anstey Stables is half an hour from the property
• Go wildlife watching with Ilfracombe Wildlife and Coastal Cruises; look out for seals, porpoises and dolphins. Sailings out of Ilfracombe Harbour (around 45 mins from the cottage)
• Hartland Abbey, Arlington Court and Castle Drogo are within easy reach.
• Great Torrington and Barnstaple are within half an hour of the property, whilst the wonderful private village of Clovelly is an hour away.
• Visit RHS Rosemoor (40 minutes), the sea at Instow (40 minutes) or Exmoor and Dartmoor (1 hr from the property).
